Ireland Win Two Bronze At European Boxing Cadet

Patrick Harkin and David Joe Joyce had to settle for bronze medals at the European Cadet Championships in Hungary this afternoon after both Irish boxers lost their semi final bouts after being stopped on the 15 point rule in Siofok.

However, the two bronze medal wins represent Irelands best ever performance at this level, and coach Jim Moore was full of praise for the Irish squad.

Croatians Boxer Pulls Out Egan Now in Final

Irish captain Ken Egan is through to the European Union Championships light heavyweight final in Dublin after his opponent pulled out because of injury.

Egan,from the Neilstown club in Dublin, had been due to meet World and European silver medallist Mario Sivolija in a 81Kg semi final at the National Stadium in Dublin tonight (June 22nd).

But the Croatians camp announced at this mornings weigh-in at the National Stadium they were withdrawing their boxer because of a facial injury.

Michael McCarthy Star Boxing From Dagenham Boxing Club

All the McCarthy family started their relationship with amateur boxing at the famous Newham Boxing Club where they quickly established themselves as a top fighting family.

European Union Cadet Boxing Championships

Ireland Secures Boxing Victory in Europe

Ireland secured a moral boosting victory ahead of this months European Union Cadet Championships and European Cadet Championships in Italy and Hungary after they won out the Four Nation Round Robin Cadet Amateur Boxing Championships at the National Stadium in Dublin today.
